How to connect more than one pump.

A common support call  is that users can't communicate with their pumps when they attach more than one pump to the "network".

Usually this is due to multiple pumps sharing the same address - specifically the default address which is 00. Pumps can have adresses ranging from 0 through 99 - for one hundred unique pumps on a network.

This can also be caused by baud rate issues - but this is very infrequent.

The solution is simple, though can be tedious depending on the number of pumps to add to a network. Each pump must be assigned a unique address. Below we will describe the steps to change the pumps' address(es). (See the manufacturer's instructions for steps on how to do this from the pump console.)

  1. Stop the pump control program.
  2. Disconnect all pumps.
  3. Do the following steps for all but one pump (whose address will remain '0')
  4. Connect one pump to the computer and ensure it has power turned on
  5. Start the software again if it has been stopped or close and re- open the network
  6. Verify that the single connected pump is discovered.
  7. In the command edit box enter: (without the quotes) "' *ADR nn " where [nn] is a new pump number - incremented by 1 from the previous pump address) This is the command that tells the pump to change its address.
  8. Disconnect the pump.

Repeat steps 4 through 8 for each pump.
